A Hawaii Designed Lifestyle
I have always had a love affair with Hawaii. I came when I was 9 for the first time on a Navy ship and stayed in Waikiki. I spent all my time in the ocean and I still do today. I bought a condo on Maui in 2004, and when my husband retired from teaching in California, we decided to exchange into a home on the Big Island in 2008. My wildest dream came true. Swimming every day at the Kailua pier with others who also love everything tropical under the water. We swim three times a week and often swim with dolphins, at least once every two weeks. Wild dolphins! I also find myself in the water with manta rays, fish balls, and unbelievable colorful tropical fish. When you move to Hawaii, the island can change you as much as you may change it by being here. To give back to the island, I joined the reef group, who patrols the reefs for changes, and, due to recent changes in the climate, we have seen warm water impacts.
If you work with me, I can provide more information about the lifestyle of the island and how you can get involved to help this beautiful place we call home.
While living in California, I attended Palo Alto High School and the University of California Santa Barbara as a French major. Studying at the Sorbonne after college, I lived in Paris for six months and then I moved to Germany near Stuttgart for another six months. While there, I learned a deep appreciation for international cultures.
I earned a Masters degree in Interior Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco specializing in hospitality design. I utilized my talent in both restaurant design and high-end residential design in the San Francisco Bay Area and owned my own business for over 25 years.
I entered the real estate business when I earned my California real estate license in 1976. After a busy life in California and raising my two boys, I
re-focused on real estate in 2004, then moved to Hawaii in 2008 where I studied for and received my Hawaii real estate license. I recently received my Certified International Property Specialist Designation. (I enjoy working with foreign nationals, and this designation will enable me to make their buying experience easier with translated real estate documents, cultural knowledge and knowledge of taxes, visas, etc.)
Creating a Life By Design
Deciding to specialize in luxury real estate, I spent my first 8 months in real estate at the north Kohala resorts: Waikoloa Resort, Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea. My experience there gave me a great education in understanding the unique lifestyle of the northern part of the west side of the Big Island, from Waikoloa to Hawi. I moved my business back to Kona, where I have worked for over two years. I enjoy working with buyers and sellers who love West Hawaii as much as I do and have chosen to make Hawaii home.
Focus on International Buyers
My mom is from New Zealand and I have always been comfortable around foreign travelers. I recently received a special real estate designation in working with foreign buyers. Currently, I am working with Chinese buyers and I am making it easier for them by getting title company translations in Mandarin to explain the real estate process. I can help them through the paperwork and process of buying a second home or rental property.
